Kanchanaburi

I spent the last weekend in the Kanchanaburi Province. It was splendid to say the least - however my camera scared me by pretending to be broken... thus leading to  the creation of this blog!
So Kanchanaburi was unbelievable - I can't believe how blessed I am to be here. We started the trip friday afternoon at the local bus station and made it all the way to Kanchanaburi (about a 2 hour bus) without the bus breaking down - a feat to say the least, especially with my luck.  Upon arriving we made friends with a local cab driver and went on our way to a recommended hostel. The next day was spent at Erwan National Park (the bus ran out of gas on the way!) playing in crystal clear waterfalls. The falls could've been easily plucked from a film. The rest of the weekend was just spent in a state of perpetual bliss- exploring Kanchanaburi on bikes, getting to see the country side and some war museums and the ever famous Bridge over River Kwai. It was astounding to be in a place were so many people had died a miserable death building a bridge.  War is brutal.
It is always so nice to escape Bangkok and get some fresh air out in the countryside, easily one of the best weekends to date. Night markets, monkey spotting, waterfall climbing and biking around the country side- hard to beat!
